Have you ever taken note of a child's slim physique and wondered how
they manage to stay so slim despite what they eat? Have you ever
wished you could have a similar metabolism? Well, we can't turn back
the clock and become children again, but with a little concentrated
effort we can become like a child again.
Most children seldom worry about the calories going into their mouths.
They eat when they feel hungry, and they enjoy things that taste good
to them. When they're full or disinterested, they stop eating. So
long as it's provided to them, they will happily indulge before once
again returning to their "business" after the meal has ended. Have you
ever watched them once their meal has indeed ended? What do they do?
They run from room to room with child-like glee. They tumble around
with brothers and sisters. They jump on the bed. They experiment with
cartwheels, somersaults and headstands before trying out a hula hoop or
jumping rope. Kids are into excitement and the thrill of an
adventure. They know what life is all about!

Of course there are lots of kids who are more quiet and prefer to draw,
read or watch TV, but those who love to play are efficiently using up
all the calories they've eaten exactly as nature intended. Is is any
wonder that they stay trim so effortlessly considering their escapades
on swings, jungle gyms and bikes?
As adults, our bodies change. We build more muscle mass, and we layer
fat in certain areas according to our biology. It's a normal, healthy
process and nothing to be ashamed of. As adults, we also cease to play
and seek out adventure like we did as children. The majority of our
time is spent behind a desk and on the couch, and we seldom move around
like we did as children. If we seek to regain effortless fitness and
an ability to quickly burn whatever foods we enjoy at the dinner table,
we should take a lesson from our children and start acting like kids
again.

Play with your kids and it will be time spent regaining your
health in addition to quality time bonding with your children. Run and
play tag in the front yard. Swing on the swings. Have a tickle war.
Master the hula hoop and practice jumping rope. Play basketball or
softball. Take karate or swimming lessons. Do somersaults, nix the
"no running in the house" rule and make it a habit to run from room to
room with joy and excitement. Just try not to run into each other!
As you incorporate some of these changes on a daily basis you may
actually find that you not only regain some of your calorie burning
potential, bu you'll also regain some of your child-like enthusiasm.
You'll be having more fun in the course of a given day, and that's a
wonderful thing for everyone at any stage of life!
