OK, you've heard this five thousand times, and surely by now, you are well aware of the fact drinking several glasses of water each day is healthy for your body. Water is a natural part of our makeup, and we need to stay well hydrated to function at optimum performance.
There are some other important things to remember about incorporating healthy water consumption into your daily routine. Water is one of those rare things on earth which creates a negative calorie effect in the body, which is an added bonus when you are trying to focus on extra calorie burn and weight loss. The negative calorie effect refers to certain foods with a calorie content that is so low, in the act of eating and digesting them, our bodies actually burn more calories processing the food than the food actually contains. Water falls into this category. Water contains no calories, yet our bodies use calories while processing the water in our system
In addition, when you drink very cold water, the results can be magnified. Your body exists at about 98.6 degrees. All of your tissues and fluids operate at this temperature. When you drink cold water, your body works to bring the temperature of that water down so your body temperature does not fall. Drinking cold water will trigger a boost in your metabolism as your body works a little "overtime" to change the temperature of that water as it is assimilated into your system. Drinking cold water can also make you feel a little chilly, and your body will respond by workingharder to keep you warm. So by simply drinking a healthy 6-8 glasses a day you will burn a few extra calories.
Drinking healthy amounts of water also helps flush toxins and impurities from your body and hydrates the cells so your skin will be moist and supple, and your complexion brighter.
