The
law of compensation states that for every loss there is a gain, and for
every gain there is a loss. At first glance it may seem negative
because our tendency is to focus on the loss portion of the law, but this is not meant to be the case
 |
In
fact, the law of compensation is not about gaining or losing. It is
simply about the exchange of energy always going on around us. Think
about when day turns to night - we lose sight of the sun, but we gain a
view of the moon and the stars. We take in oxygen and release carbon
dioxide. We give up some of our time to work in return for money. We
give up some of our money in return for a service or items we want or
need. It's the universal give and take, push and pull going on all
around us. | |
The
law of compensation is sometimes referred to as the law of karma. It
is also similar to the law of cause and effect, but it is specifically
applied to the blessings we receive in life. It states that the
effects of our deeds are bestowed to us in gifts, money, relationships
and other blessings. In other words, we reap what we sow. When we
give to others, the law of compensation returns that to us in other
blessings.
Human beings already know this deep inside our soul. That's why it's a universal law - it's already a part of us. We know how wonderful it is to receive. We love receiving money, gifts, love and attention. From the time we are small children we know how good it feels to receive. At a certain point in life we also begin to fully appreciate the old adage, "Tis better to give than to receive." We realize how good it feels to take care of someone else and the joy that exists in giving to others and knowing we have created happiness. Alternatively, we also know the guilt of taking without giving back.
The law of compensation is not about giving only to get, and it is not about revenge or an eye for an eye. The law of compensation - like all universal laws - is an unbiased natural law always in effect whether we know it or not. It exists at the physical level in the world around us, and it exists at the metaphysical level. The law functions only as a compass just like all the other universal laws to direct us on our journey through life.
|
One of the main functions of the law of compensation is to create abundance in our lives. Knowledge of the law raises awareness of our actions, thoughts and contributions to the world around us. It allows us to recognize the harmony which should exist and offers us the opportunity to right any wrongs we have done so that we may benefit from the good we produce in the world. |
 |
We know in giving we will receive. It's the law. We give to others of our time and energy in a willing, loving manner and trust that giving will be returned to us in receiving. When we do not concern ourselves with when or how and simply feel present and joyful in that giving, we are radiating positive energy which is also being returned to us. Not only does the law of compensation return our giving by way of receiving, but all of the other laws of the universe will work in harmony to deliver even more good to our lives.
