6. The Law of Rhythm                                         Return to Self Study Page

The law of rhythm is an easy one.  We know this inherently.  To everything there is a season.  There is a time to reap and a time to sow, a time to be born and a time to die.  To everything a purpose and a time for everything.  The tide ebbs and flows, and the night follows the day.  The moon waxes and wanes, and the four seasons come and go as the earth rotates on its axis.  Even in our own bodies we are governed by constant rhythm.  Our physical bodies survive on the rhythm of our heartbeats, blood flow, our breath and our waking and sleeping.

Through the law of vibration we know that everything in the universe is in constant motion, and the law of polarity teaches that there is a polar opposite to everything.  So the law of rhythm teaches us the constant motion in our universe always follows a logical flow back and forth like a pendulum.  No matter where we exist on the polarity scale at the moment, things will inevitably swing in the other direction according to the rhythm of the universe.

The law of rhythm is good news when things are not in the best of circumstances because we can poise ourselves to take action when the pendulum swings back in the other direction.  Knowledge of the law of rhythm provides comfort and confidence that anything wrong can be made right and anything dissatisfying in our lives can be changed.

But what if things are already good and satisfying?  Does that mean things will automatically turn for the worse beyond our control?  According to the law, there will always be a natural ebb and flow.  It does not have to spell disaster or even concern, however.  It simply means there are changing seasons.  One day we work really hard and get a lot accomplished , and the next day we rest.  One week we may come down with a cold, but the following week we feel great again.  Perhaps one month you make $15,000 dollars, and the next month you only made $10,000.  It might be a slight disappointment, but that's not to assume $10,000 was bad or unwelcome in your life.  It was simply the ebb of the pendulum as it prepares to swing back in the other direction and perhaps help you deliver $20,000 the next time around.

The law of rhythm can actually be used to our benefit in countless ways.  Because we know it exists, we can incorporate it into our lives and prepare for the future ahead.  There are leading corporations that run their business in this way.  In times of feast, we prepare and save in order to see us through the times of famine.  In lean times we modify and prepare to gain momentum with the next upswing.
