I'm not a huge meat eater in general so I don't tend to frequent the big steak chains like Longhorn, but every now and again I like to venture outside my comfort zone and try something different.

I was so pleasantly surprised by my experience and the quality of food, that I've actually been back several times to venture outside of my comfort zone again

Longhorn's dark rustic wood beams and leather-like walls adorned with images of cowboys and livestock invoke a masculine, rugged quality feel that is carried through to a menu which features big burgers, hearty steaks, ribs and cheese fries.

The steaks and ribs are glazed with delicious sauces, and even the asparagus glistens with the sheen of butter.  While much of the menu is not particularly figure friendly unless you promise to divide your entree into about 4 meals total, I was surprised and delighted to find a few healthier items on the sandwich and salad side.

The salmon in the salmon salad is prepared like a fine cut of steak and placed on top of beautifully fresh greens with a side of balsamic vinaigrette.  Everything jives together quite well and tastes great.

The service was also terrific.  Out of four visits, only one visit on a busy Sunday afternoon was a little lacking in the service department.  Every other occasion was near perfection for everything from the food, the friendliness of the hosts, the attentiveness of the servers and the ambiance of the location.  I'm definitely looking forward to my next visit.
